FLIGHTS TO SUN VALLEY, ID

Sun Valley Airport (SUN)

This Idaho mining town attracts rich and famous the likes of Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood. Ernest Hemingway himself was an early visitor and spent his final days — and is buried — in nearby Ketchum.

Ski Through the Sights

Sun Valley is most distinguished for the skiing on Bald Mountain. The slopes around this premiere snow sport destination see upwards of 3.500 skiers a day. Like many seasonal sporting towns, when the snow melts away, there is still plenty to get out and do. Fly-fishing, river rafting, mountain biking and hiking are all sports in this neck of the woods, with plenty of tour guides and experts ready to introduce you to the beautiful land they call home.

There's a commitment to wellness throughout Sun Valley that's tangible. It's a mecca for organic foodies and vegetarians, and the city host's the annual Sun Valley Wellness Festival in May where speakers cover a range of topics related to health and well-being. The Sun Valley Half Marathon is held in late spring. Its course takes runners through some of the most scenic and least-trafficked terrain around as they complete their 13.1-mile trek.

Rather watch the entertainment? Sun Valley offers other fun festivals year round. Wagon Days, in nearby Ketchum, are a salute to the Old West with live music shows, dancing and the Big Hitch Parade. If art is more your thing, look for the Sun Valley Arts and Crafts Fair and the Sun Valley Music Festival.

If all you really want is to kick back and relax, book a weekend at the Sun Valley Lodge. Elegant guest rooms with marble appointments and French country furnishings await with a spa, sauna, heated pool, bowling alley and ice skating rink right at your fingertips.
