Delta customers continue to support Fisher House Foundation's Hero Miles program through SkyWish by donating miles. Thanks to these donations, Delta customers are helping to provide airline tickets to wounded, injured and ill service members and/or their families, to support them as they seek medical treatment. In addition, Delta has provided support to build new Fisher Houses at James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Seattle and the Long Beach, Calif., VA hospital complex, where families of service members and veterans can stay at no cost while a loved one receives treatment.
Customers have the option to donate miles to Luke’s Wings, opens in a new window through Delta’s SkyWish program, which provides airline tickets to wounded veterans and their loved ones, as well as final flights to unite veterans in hospice care with their families. Each November, Delta matches customer donations and collectively matches up to 10 million miles to Luke’s Wings and Fisher House.
Employees donate thousands of toys, including more than 800 bikes built by Delta TechOps, throughout December in partnership with the Marine Toys for Tots, a tradition that now spans 15 years.
Delta supports the local USO, opens in a new window through sponsorship and volunteer work at the USO of Georgia, Bob Hope USO (Los Angeles), Fleet Week at USO of Metro New York and USO Northwest (Seattle). In addition, Delta also supports the Freedom Center in Detroit. At the Los Angeles airport (LAX), Delta employees show their support and appreciation for armed service members monthly by greeting them curbside, helping them tag and store luggage, and then serving them a barbecue dinner.
