Founded in 1854 and named for an American Indian Tribe, Omaha means “those going against the wind or current,” and this city’s residents certainly live up to that name. It has produced notable figures from Fred Astaire and Marlon Brando to Gerald Ford and Malcolm X. And in this is a quintessential American city, Omahans seem to be constantly striving to transform themselves and their beloved home.

The city is now proudly home to the Bob Kerrey Bridge, a one-of-a-kind pedestrian bridge that “S”-curves it's way across the Missouri River giving everyone who visits a beautiful view of the city’s skyline. Walk further through downtown and you’ll find yourself knee-deep in an eclectic mix of nightlife spots including indie-rock clubs, cinema art houses and trendy lounges. Grab a round for the whole table at Brazen Head Irish Pub before slipping into the Slowdown, an indie-rock club. Or maybe just catch a flick at the Film Stream, a movie theater dedicated to independent films.

When it comes to food, the city's agriculture plays a big role in the cuisine, thanks to the reputation of Nebraska bred cattle and the famous Omaha Steaks mail order company. Indulge in a steak at one of Warren Buffet's favorite restaurants, Gorat's Steakhouse. If you're looking for something slightly less of a splurge, Omaha has restaurants of all types of cuisines to satisfy your appetite. In the mood for Mexican? Crunch on a puffy shell taco at California Tacos. Want a slice of pie? Think Pudgy's Pizzeria. Got sushi on the brain? Make a stop at Hiro Sushi. The tastes are endless.

For travel between the United States and Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, or Uruguay, $70 USD fee for the first checked bag (Basic Economy only) and $100 USD fee for the second checked bag.  For travel between the United States and South America (excluding Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay) on a Basic Economy fare, $60 USD fee for first checked bag and $100 USD fee for second checked bag. For travel between the United States and South America (excluding Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay) on a Main Cabin fare, no fee for first checked bag and $60 USD fee for second checked bag. For travel between United States and Europe, $75 USD fee or 70 EUR fee for first checked bag (Basic Economy only) and $100 USD fee or 85 EUR fee for second checked bag. For travel between United States and Africa (excluding Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia), the Middle East or India, no fee for first checked bag and $100 USD fee for second checked bag (Basic Economy Only). For travel from the United States to Algeria, Morocco, or Tunisia, $75 USD fee for first checked bag (Basic Economy only) and $100 USD fee for second checked bag. For travel from Algeria, Morocco, or Tunisia to the United States, no fee for first checked bag and $100 USD fee or 85 EUR fee for second checked bag. For travel between the United States and Israel, $60 USD fee for first checked bag (Basic Economy only) and $100 USD fee for second checked bag. For travel between United States and Asia (excluding Australia, New Zealand, China, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea), no fee for first checked bag and $100 USD fee for second checked bag (Basic Economy only). For travel between United States and Australia, New Zealand, China, Fiji, or Papua New Guinea, no fee for first checked bag and $100 USD fee for second checked bag. For travel between the United States and French Polynesia, $60 USD fee or 50 EUR fee for first checked bag (Basic Economy only) and $100 USD fee or 85 EUR fee for second checked bag. SkyMiles Award Travel | Award Travel is subject to taxes and fees and carrier-imposed charges which are the responsibility of the passenger and must be paid at the time the ticket is booked.
