The Work We Do
"I have had the opportunity to work with and be trained by mechanics that have 30+ years of experience. Through this, I have gained a confidence in my ability to fix planes accurately and efficiently. There's also a great network in TechOps and being here feels like we're a big group of friends and family."
1. When did you begin your career as an aircraft mechanic and why did you choose this field?
I began my career in 2019 at Delta doing line maintenance in San Diego. I chose this field because my dad worked for Delta as a mechanic, and he would often take me to work with him. I remember being in awe of the planes and how they worked from the first time he took me in. Keeping the flight benefits that I grew up with also was a big factor in why I wanted to work at Delta.
2. How long have you been a part of Delta TechOps?
I joined TechOps almost 5 years ago.

4. What do you enjoy most about your current role?
I enjoy that every day is different and there's always something new to learn. You never know if you'll be changing a tire, changing an engine, doing a sheet metal repair or any number of possible jobs.
5. What advice would you give someone interested in a career in TechOps?
My advice would be to just jump in. There are tons of positions where you can get started with TechOps, like aircraft support mechanic, logistics or tool room. These will give you a little hands-on experience and can help you decide if going to A&P school is right for you. Everyone here wants to see you succeed and is willing to help you however they can, so just be willing to ask.

1. When did you begin your career as an aircraft mechanic and why did you choose this field?
I became an aircraft mechanic in 1999. I started Aviation High School in Queens NY, and my original career choice was to become a pilot.
To my surprise, Aviation High School curricular program is aircraft maintenance technician (A&P). I gave this some deep thought and figure this is a great opportunity, and it seems interesting. After taking a few flight lessons as a teenager and falling asleep during my lessons, I realized Aviation may be my passion but being an Aircraft Maintenance Technician is my calling.
