Employee uniforms to include Sign Language option

Delta’s core values are rooted in a mission to seek diversity and promote inclusion, both for employees and our customers.  Guided by those values, we are excited to share that we will soon be rolling out a uniform language bar for sign languages, which will be worn beneath our nametags.

The language bars will indicate which front-line team members are able to communicate in 300+ different sign languages. We are proud to be the first U.S. airline to offer this option; and with this improvement, our customers and qualified employees will immediately be able to notice when they hold sign language as a common connection.

“Our mission is to connect the world, which starts with making travel easier for all people,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. “It’s a small step on our journey, but a powerful change as we seek to make the world a smaller, more inclusive place.”

This initiative came to life as a direct result of feedback and input from our customers, employees and Advisory Board on Disability. You can expect to see uniformed employees sporting the new language bars later this fall.
