Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is the main airport for travel to the Dominican Republic. It has two terminals serving 13 regional, international and domestic airlines, including Delta Air Lines.

Drink and dine options include Wendy’s, Sbarro, Nathan’s, Cinnabon, Segafredo’s, Baskin-Robbins, and the Skybar. For your shopping needs, Brisas del Caribe offers souvenirs and local arts and crafts, and a duty-free shop sells perfumes, liquor, and jewelry.

Your first order of business in Punta Cana should be spending the day at the beach. Check out several to figure out which one suits you best. Start with centrally-located Playa Cabeza de Toro, a popular tourist beach with a yacht club. Then check out Playa Juanillo on the south end, considered one of the best beaches in Dominican Republic, thanks to it pristine sand and clear waters.

Punta Cana is in a tropical wet and dry climate zone, which means it’s sunny and warm year-round. In fact, the temperature varies very little, with average highs hovering in the low-to-mid 80s throughout the year. But Punta Cana receives considerable amount of rain, averaging 43 inches a year. The rainy season is May through October, when 5 to 6 inches of rainfall on average every month. Hurricane season is June through November.
