- If you do not have enough miles to pay for your entire stay, you can split your transaction using both miles and a credit/debit card for payment. When prompted, enter how many miles you would like to use for that booking; the remaining value (after subtracting the miles used) will be reflected as USD and must be paid using a credit or debit card.
- You must be logged-in to your SkyMiles account to complete a purchase when using miles.

A qualifying rental booking includes rentals at a participating location for one or more days at rates other than travel industry rates or discounts, wholesale of tour package rates or discounts, wholesale tour package rates, insurance/dealer replacement rates, corporate and government rates, group travel discounts, or rentals in conjunction with a frequent flyer car award, or other corporate agreements applicable to the respective car company. Calculation of the applicable standard mileage offer is listed below by car rental company.
- Qualifying Dollars include the base car rental rate, before taxes and fees, charged at the time of booking. Taxes, fees, other incidental charges, or other booking charges or any element of the booking which is paid or reduced by redemption vouchers or discount codes are excluded from mileage credit and are not included in the Qualifying Dollars.
- Mileage can only be credited to the SkyMiles Member whose name appears on the credit card used for the reservation. First and last name on credit card must match with name on SkyMiles account provided. Miles will not be awarded for cancelled, no-show, or unpaid reservations.
- SkyMiles number must be provided at the time of booking.
- Only one SkyMiles number can be provided per booking.
- Please allow up to 8 weeks after completion of eligible rental for miles to be deposited in SkyMiles account.
- If mileage credit has not been recorded on your SkyMiles account within 8 weeks after qualifying activity occurs, please contact us and select: Request Refund or Miles > Mileage Credit > Partners.
- Requests for mileage credit will be accepted up to 9 months from the last day of the rental reservation.
- Car rental bookings completed prior to enrollment into SkyMiles will not be eligible for mileage credit.
- Miles awarded are bonus miles and do not count toward Million Miler Status.
- Unless otherwise expressly specified as part of a limited time offer (which is subject to the terms and conditions of such offer), spend on completed car rentals does not count toward Medallion Qualification Dollars.
Calculation of Mileage Credit for Car Rentals
The standard mileage offer earned for car rentals booked at delta.com or travelextras-delta.com will be calculated as follows:
Hertz Reservations:
- General SkyMiles Members earn 4 miles per Qualifying Dollar
- Silver Medallions earn 5 miles per Qualifying Dollar
- Gold Medallions earn 6 miles per Qualifying Dollar
- Platinum Medallions earn 7 miles per Qualifying Dollar
- Diamond Medallions earn 8 miles per Qualifying Dollar
Dollar and Thrifty Reservations:
- All SkyMiles Members earn 4 miles per Qualifying Dollar
Alamo, Enterprise, National / Avis, Budget and Payless Reservations:
- All SkyMiles Members earn 2 miles per Qualifying Dollar
Redeeming Miles for Car Rentals:
- For certain pay now car rentals, SkyMiles Members have the option to pay for all or a portion of their booking using miles earned through the SkyMiles Program.
- There is no minimum number of miles needed to redeem for a car rental, but if you would like to book your car rental using only miles, your mileage balance must equal or exceed the total of your booking.
- If you do not have enough miles to pay for your entire car rental booking, you can split your transaction using both miles and a credit/debit card for payment. When prompted, enter how many miles you would like to use for that booking; the remaining value (after subtracting the miles used) will be reflected as USD and must be paid using a credit or debit card.
- You must be logged-in to your SkyMiles account to complete a purchase when using miles.
- You may not combine miles from two or more accounts on a single transaction. Miles used may only come from one SkyMiles account.
- Miles will be deducted at the time of purchase from the SkyMiles account provided and will appear as “Delta Cars”.
- Car rental bookings must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to car pick-up date and time to be eligible for a refund. Bookings cancelled less than 24 hours prior to car pick up date and time will not be eligible for any refunds, and such cancellation will forfeit the booking. Any applicable refunds will be made to the original form of payment less any fees and charges. If your booking was made using both miles and a credit/debit card, then the portion of the booking made with miles will be refunded as miles to the SkyMiles account provided at the time of booking and the credit/debit portion will be refunded to the original card used in the booking.
- If you change or alter your booking resulting in additional costs and charges, any charges must be paid using a credit card or debit card. Changes or alterations of your car rental booking using miles may not be permitted. Please contact the car rental company directly to inquire. To the extent those changes result in additional costs and charges, any charges will be paid directly using a credit card or debit card.
- Miles will not be awarded on any car rental booking in which miles are used, regardless of any amount of the reservation paid for using a debit/credit card.
- Any additional or third-party fees or charges, including those incurred while traveling and any ancillary products or add-ones made during pick-up, are in addition to the fees and charges of your original reservation and are not eligible to be paid for with miles.
- Delta reserves the right to cancel any stays bookings due to insufficient miles in your account, suspicion of fraud, violation(s) of the SkyMiles Program Rules, or termination of your SkyMiles account.
- Delta may change, suspend, or terminate the redemption program (including but not limited to any benefits and conditions of participation), in whole or in part, at any time with or without notice.
Limited-Time Offers for both Stays and Car Rentals Booked at delta.com: Elevated offers may be applicable from time to time based on booking date and these supersede the standard offer during the promotional period. Offers may or may not be combined with other offers. Offers are subject to the terms and conditions of each individual offer. Offer void where prohibited by law.
