Dalmatian Coast Vacation Packages

The Dalmatian Coast region boasts countless islands, storied port towns and pristine beaches. On the southern tip of the Dalmatian Coast sits the country’s top tourist destination, Dubrovnik. Its majestic seaside setting is a popular draw, and presents many attractions, including an Old Town district with limestone streets, magnificent baroque palaces, fascinating museums and endless views of the azure sea. The second largest city in Croatia, Split, has amazing sites that attract Roman history lovers and Game of Thrones fans.

Explore the Dalmatian Coast

Bordering Slovenia, Bosnia and Montenegro, and comprised of hundreds of miles of sparkling Adriatic coastline, the Dalmatia region appeals to travelers seeking a coastal getaway and island-hopping adventure with plenty of sunshine, picture-perfect scenery, old-world splendor and fine food and wine.

The gorgeous seaside cities of Dubrovnik and Split are up-and-coming destinations for all types of travelers. Jutting into the sea and ringed by stone medieval walls, Dubrovnik is a fun mix of steep alleys, kid-friendly squares, al fresco cafes and a traffic-free Old Town area.

Split has a bustling urban vibe with some of the best Roman ruins outside of Italy, and its Old Town’s twisting lanes are built into the remains of Emperor Diocletian’s fourth-century palace. Its maze of narrow alleys are lined with fashionable boutiques, art galleries, charming coffee bars and Roman artifacts.

Hvar is a ritzy island haven known for its relaxing beaches, rugged interior and jet-set appeal. Korcula is a sleepy island fishing town with a fjord-like mountain backdrop, and Zadar, a three-thousand-year-old city, on the northern Dalmatian Coast, is a medieval town with a string of beautiful beaches that are less crowded.

In Dubrovnik, take the cable car up to Mount Srd, a Napoleonic fortress, for spectacular views of Old Town, or check out the Franciscan Monastery, which is home to one of Europe’s oldest pharmacies. Visit the many locations throughout the city that were showcased in the hit TV series, Game of Thrones, including the Trsteno Arboretum and the Lovrijenac Fortress, a beautiful 11th-century castle.

Stroll along Split’s seaside promenade, shop at lively outdoor markets or travel back in time by visiting Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a ferry from Split’s port to the island of Hvar to visit lavender fields or sample wine in local vineyards, and on sunny days, a capella street singers perform songs of seafaring life.

Sail up and down the coast visiting coastal cities and islands, and don’t miss Korčula, a 30-mile-long island north of Dubrovnik, to see its historic Renaissance-era walls, olive groves, sandy beaches and charming villages.

From intricate lace and locally-made glass jewelry to wood carvings, ceramics and wine, the Dalmatian Coast offers a great shopping experience. And whether you’re looking for big brands, boutique fashion or affordable souvenirs, you can find shopping malls and superb places for retail therapy in larger towns like Dubrovnik and Split.

Croatia is renowned for its variety of seafood dishes, while inland areas abound with steak and hearty stew dishes. Italian influences are strong with most towns offering pizzerias with a mix of gelato, pastries, torta and pancake bars. Croatia produces plenty of wine, including Plavac Mali (red wine) and Malvazija, Grasevina and Posip (white wines). In Dubrovnik and Hvar, nightlife venues include everything from informal beach bars to glitzy nightclubs and trendy bars.
